The Tannate promise

A new workshop. An honest contract.

We're just getting started — so instead of borrowed reviews, here's what every order ships with, in writing.

10-year stitch warranty

If a saddle stitch fails, we re-sew it free. Forever, for the original owner.

Made by one pair of hands

Every wallet and bag is cut, edged, and stitched by the founder. Initials inside.

Ships within 14 days

We work in small batches. You'll get a workshop photo before it leaves the bench.

30-day field test

Carry it daily. If it doesn't earn its keep, send it back — no questions, no restocking.

The process

Four hides. One bench. Zero shortcuts.

Tannate's catalog is small on purpose. We source veg-tanned hides from a single tannery in Tuscany, then cut, edge, and stitch each piece in-house. No glue lines hiding sloppy work — just leather that gets better the harder you use it.

  1. 01

    Source

Full-grain bridle and Wickett & Craig hides, chosen one side at a time for grain consistency.

  2. 02

    Cut & skive

Patterns are hand-traced on each hide so cuts follow the natural fiber direction — fewer weak points.

  3. 03

    Saddle stitch

Every seam is two needles, waxed linen thread, locked at both ends. A machine stitch can unravel. This won't.

  4. 04

    Burnish & finish

Edges are sanded, slicked, and waxed by hand until they're as hard and smooth as bone.
